Installation

  1. Copy all files from the delivered Floppy Disk / ZIP-Archive / CD-ROM to a directory on your harddisk. Any further installation is not necessary. It is also possible to run the application directly from a Floppy Disk.
  2. Choose an available COM-Port on your PC, and make sure that no other application is using it. Connect the chosen COM Port with you Encoder using a Null Modem Cable.
  3. Start 'ArcosII.exe'.

COM Port Settings

Chose the menu option 'COM Port...' from the 'Configuration' menu. The following dialog will appear:
 
You can configure the parameter of your serial port ( on the PC ) in the 'COM Settings' dialog. Choose an available COM port from the 'Port' Combobox. The following parameter should work for almost all cases:
  • Speed 9600
  • Handshake none
  • Data Bits 8
  • Stop Bits 1
  • Parity none

Checking The Serial Connection To The Encoder

Choose the option 'Check Connection...' from the 'Tools' menu. The following dialog will appear:

The 'Check Connection' function tries to connect to the Encoder. It probes for various port speeds and determines the configured 'Port Mode' ( ACK / no ACK ). ArcosII will save the discovered data automatically.
